INTERPOL’s Revitalization Team sees the National Central Bureau Manila in action during their visit to the Philippines on February 15-17, 2011. The 3-day evaluation tour was conducted by Mr. Yoshimi Shimizu and Mr. Raouf Atallah of the NCB Co-ordination Sub-Directorate for Asia and South Pacific, INTERPOL General Secretariat.

The revitalization visit aimed to assess NCB Manila’s compliance to the INTERPOL Service Standards. The 24-Service Standards set the quality of the service that INTERPOL Member countries must provide to its counterparts. It includes the processing/handling of requests, permanency of NCB Officials, security mechanisms, sharing of law enforcement tools beyond the NCB, capacity building, networking and law enforcement cooperation in the field of cross border investigation.

A follow-up assessment to the first one done in 2005 by the INTERPOL Best Practice Team, the visitors had a glimpse of the on-going activities and projects undertaken by the NCB as part of its commitment to INTERPOL. They toured around the facilities of the NCB and were briefed on the process of how the NCB responds to the requests of its foreign counterparts.

The team also had the chance to meet the member-agencies of the NCB in a meeting last February 17, 2011 hosted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
