Swiss Fugitive, Nabbed in Tarlac
 

TARLAC, PHILIPPINES. – Joint elements from the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Philippine National Police (PNP) – Police Regional Office (PRO) 3, PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime (PCTC) – INTERPOL National Central Bureau Manila arrested one Markus Josef Vettori, a Swiss national in Camiling, Tarlac City on 19 October 2006.
Vettori, who was subject of an INTERPOL Diffusion in June 2006, is wanted in Switzerland for theft; damage to property; disturbance of domestic peace and fraud. Switzerland’s Federal Office of Justice thru INTERPOL Berne, requested INTERPOL Manila on 06 June 2006, to conduct search operation and provisionally arrest the subject once located.

INTERPOL Manila immediately requested the PNP-PRO3 to verify the whereabouts of the subject using information on Vettori’s possible location. After weeks of surveillance operations, PRO 3 confirmed the presence of the subject in Camiling, Tarlac.

The arrest of the subject was based on his expired visa, whose validity ended on 20 September 2006. The arresting Team was led by the BI, together with a representative from the Swiss Embassy-Manila. Vettori was presented to the PNP-Regional Director of PRO 3 right after the arrest and turned-over to BI for detention.

Vettori was deported to Switzerland on 06 November 2006, escorted by officers from the BI and PCTC.
